1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Family Vault ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

These Terms apply to all users, including vault owners, members, and viewers.

2. Description of Service

Family Vault is a digital platform designed to help families preserve and share their memories, stories, photos, audio recordings, and videos. Our Service includes:

• Secure cloud storage for family memories
• Story creation and editing tools
• Photo, audio, and video upload capabilities
• AI-powered transcription and writing assistance (optional)
• Family vault sharing and collaboration features
• Data export functionality

3. Account Registration and Age Requirements

Account Holders (18+)

To create a Family Vault account, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Provide accurate registration information, including your date of birth
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

Vault Members (13+)

Users aged 13-17 may participate in Family Vault as invited members under the following conditions:

• They must be invited by an adult (18+) vault owner or admin
• The inviting adult assumes responsibility for the minor's use of the Service
• Minors may contribute content but cannot manage billing or vault settings
• Parents/guardians may request removal of their child's account at any time

Users Under 13

In compliance with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act), users under 13 years of age are not permitted to create accounts or participate as vault members. Content about children under 13 may be shared by their parents or guardians.

4. Subscription and Payments

Family Vault offers subscription-based access. By subscribing, you agree to:

• Pay all fees associated with your subscription plan
• Provide valid payment information
• Accept automatic renewal unless cancelled

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Upon cancellation:

• Access continues until the end of the current billing period
• A 90-day grace period allows you to export your data
• After the grace period, your data will be permanently deleted
• Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods

5. User Content

Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to content you upload to Family Vault. By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to:

• Store and backup your content
• Display your content to authorized vault members
• Process your content for features you request (e.g., transcription)

Content Restrictions

You agree not to upload content that:

• Violates any law or regulation
• Infringes on intellectual property rights
• Contains malware or harmful code
• Is defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
• Exploits minors in any way
• Violates the privacy of others without consent

6. Vault Membership and Roles

Family Vault uses a role-based system for vault access:

• Owner: Full control over the vault, including billing, member management, and deletion
• Admin: Can manage members and content, but cannot delete the vault or manage billing
• Member: Can view and contribute content
• Viewer: Read-only access to vault content

Vault owners are responsible for managing access and ensuring all members comply with these Terms.

7. AI Features

Family Vault offers optional AI-powered features. By using these features, you acknowledge that:

• AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies
• You are responsible for reviewing and editing AI-generated content
• AI features are provided "as is" without warranty
• Your content may be processed by third-party AI providers

8. Storage Limits

Your subscription includes specific storage allocations. We reserve the right to:

• Enforce storage limits based on your subscription plan
• Notify you when approaching storage limits
• Restrict uploads if limits are exceeded
• Offer additional storage for purchase

9. Prohibited Uses

You may not use Family Vault to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Harass, abuse, or harm another person
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access
• Use automated systems to access the Service
• Collect user information without consent
• Use the Service for commercial purposes without authorization

10. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by Family Vault and protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Our trademarks may not be used without prior written consent.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

• The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Defects will be corrected
• The Service is free of viruses or harmful components
• The results of using the Service will meet your requirements

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FAMILY VAULT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Family Vault, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

14. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for:

• Breach of these Terms
• Fraudulent or illegal activity
• Non-payment of fees
• At our sole discretion for any reason

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
